1 / 15

At December 9 sitting, the RA Deputy Minister of Environment Gayane Gabrielyan presented for debate the draft law on Making Addendum to the RA Tax Code authored by the Government in the first reading.

The executive body proposes to extend the term of the import of the great, medium and small buses, passenger transport means, motorcycles and mopeds, the transport means working exclusively with electronic engine and the privilege operating for alienation until January 1, 2024. At present, in parallel with the privilege established by the Tax Code the rates of the import customs duty were reset for the passenger transport vehicles working with electric engine until 31 December 2021 by the decision of the Eurasian Economic Commission,” the Deputy Minister informed.

According to the rapporteur, after entering into force of the privilege established by the Tax Code from July 1, 2019, a favourable environment was created in the republic for getting electric vehicles, as well as for the development of the necessary infrastructures to operate them.

“During the period from July 1, 2019 until July 1, 2021 the transport means with 5291 electric engines was imported to the Republic of Armenia: in 2019 – 668, in 2020 – 2055 and only in the first half of 2021 – 2468. And in 2018 - only 12 electric vehicles,” Gayane Gabrielyan noted. As she has informed, the charging stations increase, get installed and about 45 get operated in the republic.

It has been noted that at present, the grants program was also launched by the Environmental Projects Implementation Unit of the Ministry of Environment, within the framework of which it is designed to get more than a dozen electric vehicles for the Government and charging stations for them.

The member of the RA NA Standing (Head) Committee on Economic Affairs Hripsime Stambulyan presented the endorsement of the Committee.
